PE

Eight units are taught on the BTEC National Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science course, which is equivalent to two A levels. To effectively manage student workload and maximise student productivity there will be four units covered in each year of study.

 

The units are Functional Anatomy (90 minute external exam), Exercise Physiology (90 minute external exam), Field and Laboratory-Based Research (internally assessed), Biomechanics in Sport & Exercise (internally assessed), Applied Sport & Exercise Psychology (3 hour external exam), Applied Research Project (internally assessed), Socio-Cultural Studies (internally assessed) and Coaching for Performance & Fitness (internally assessed).

 

All internally assessed units will comprise of 3 written assignments, which are to be completed independently. These are all done electronically.

 

There is no assessment of students’ practical/performance ability required as part of the course. All assessment is theoretical based.
